A qualified fitness instructor, Clare has always trained, "I used to do track and cross country. I got involved in weight training after years of looking at models in fitness magazines and deciding I want to look like that!" says Clare, which is why she set her sights on becoming a Figure Athlete.
Combining training and competition with Clare's full time role as a fitness instructor is very demanding. Clare gets up at 4am to do her first cardio session, then starts her day as a Gym Instructor at 6am. Clare then does her weight sessions in the afternoons, usually one body part per day - a legs day for instance would include squats, leg press, lying leg curl, leg extension, seated leg curl and lunges, around four sets of 15 to 30 repetitions. Another cardio session follows her weight session. This routine is repeated five to six days a week.
While training for competitions Clare watches her diet very carefully and uses Thermo Dynamx, CLA, Myopro and L-Glutamine branch chain amino acids and multivitamins. During competition as her body fat levels have to be depleted, Clare doesn't use anything. After competition she will change her protein intake to higher carbohydrate content like a Myoplex Shake and bar to help her body recover.
Of her nutrition regime Clare says "Nutrition is so important. It's 80 per cent nutrition, 20 per cent training. I have to nourish my body precisely and carefully and EAS supplements provide the right nutrients in the best ratio - I can see exactly what I'm getting and can plan in great detail my nutrient intake. I trust the products which are doping free guaranteed. And the drinks, shakes and bars taste good - which makes it an enjoyable as well as nutritious choice."
